Invisible Compass
We are all connected by an invisible web. Different degrees. Different perspectives. Different viewpoints we look out from. Our stories interweave together.
Invisible Compass is an interactive story trail, for 4 to 104 year-olds, through urban and green areas of Laindon marked by sites of public art with QR codes linked to audio stories that have been co-created with the local community of Laindon.
You Heard Us - Young Producers, Baltic Gateshead
A series of risograph prints created by Baltic's Young Producers with artists Foundation Press and myself.
Young Producers are a group of 14-19 year olds who meet every other week at Baltic to plan events, projects and commissions that platform the voices, ideas and concerns of young people and campaign for change.
You Heard Us is about putting the art and words of people who aren't always heard in the most public of places. This series of risograph prints can be found across the North East; in Metro stations and shopping centres, as well as side the Baltic itself.
The group were asked to think about their dream worlds and interviewed each other about them. These posters display quotes from the interview transcripts. This collection of work interrupts the everyday and the mundane, asking you to imagine, a brighter and more positive future.
Baltic Young Producers are Cecilia, Ceoladh, Chloe, Elena, Emily, Freya, Grace H, Grace R, Grace S, Isabel, Isabella, Katie K, Katie R, Lara, Millie, Niko, Rosie, Sadie, Sarina, Sophie, Taylor, Zuzanna.

is a public photography project celebrating women taking up public space.
What:
You Heard Us is a public art project. In 2022 I collaborated with 51 local women and 4 local photographers across the four localities: Stockton, Bradford, Cambridge and Deptford (London).
A portrait of each participant was taken by a local photographer and graphically designed with the words of each participant. There was also QR codes linked to an audio recording of each woman, either telling a story, reciting a poem or a music video.
This iteration of You Heard Us was made in partnership with ARC Stockton, SIRF, The Albany, Theatre in the Mill and Cambridge Junction. Supported using public funding by Arts Council England.
How:
We have connected with each participant through a process of nomination. I asked local ambassadors to nominate brilliant women in their area that they feel should be honoured.
We take portraits of each participants in a scenario in which they feel powerful. These photographs are put through a computer program which blows the image up to a large scale. This happens by pixellating the image into hundreds/thundres of A4/A3 sheets. I then plaster these sheets onto billboards constructed by the team that fit on the side of public buildings. Due to council permissions Stockton has a different method. Each portraits has been graphically designed as a vinyl. These have been installed in empty shop windows.
